Founded in 1972, A.I.R. is the first not for profit artist run gallery for women in USA. Ann Pachner will have one of Air Gallery's consecutively running, last two solo shows at their SOHO address. September 10th A.I.R. will begin their new season in Chelsea.
Pachner has had six solo shows in SOHO over the past decade. Her wood carving and recent inclusion of text have investigated the realm of personal transformation.
What Time Is It? the title of the exhibition and the text from a digital print are words taken from meditation. The carvings are a contemplation of those words. The fire images seen in her last exhibition have been replaced by color. The color serving the same function of burning or transforming; the persistent images of the tables as a stand in for squaring matter or equilibrium, and the lingum like forms as equivalents of energy continue to engage the artist.
